Avondale Sunday Market

The Avondale Sunday market is New Zealand’s biggest one day market and the oldest running.  It is open EVERY Sunday, rain, hail or shine, from 6am to 12 noon attracting up to 20,000 people throughout the day.

This multicultural market has products and food from all over the Pacific and Asian continents with great deals in vegetables and fruit and car boot items.  Here you’ll find the Vietnamese & Thai, Indian, Chinese and Pacific Island ingredients that have eluded you when cooking authentic dishes.

This is a "must visit" attraction, if you don't indeed make it part of your weekly shop.

WHERE

The Avondale Sunday Market can be found in the grounds of the Avondale Racecourse at 2 Ash St., Avondale.  Parking is available on the showgrounds for $3, or park on surrounding streets.  Street parking is difficult though, so take public transport if you can.  From the train, just follow the crowds.  It’s an 11 minute walk.

WHO

The market is privately owned by Ross Kemp and his family.  It is not run by the business association.  It is open every Sunday except Christmas, but if you are unsure, visit their website www.avondalesundaymarkets.co.nz.
