Kai Avondale is a Facebook group to help keep our community up to date with food initiatives in our neighbourhood. While we focus primarily on our own, we invite other Avondale or Whau-based community food projects to share updates here as well.
• Feed the Streets
A free community dinner held every second Saturday at Avondale Community Centre, 99 Rosebank Rd, 5.30–7pm. All welcome, however please be aware this is an alcohol and drug-free space.
• Free Guys
A "take what you need, pay what you can" supermarket-style set up stocking rescued and donated food. This service is not open to the public, only those that have been referred to us by a social service or community organisation. If you would like to access Free Guys, please message us.
• Rosebank School Breakfast Club
A free breakfast every Monday–Wednesday 8–8.50am during term time. All students and families welcome.
• Weekly bread donations
Every Tuesday morning outside 1855 Great North Rd, Avondale town centre.
Other Avondale-based community food initiatives we share updates from include: Community Hang-out; Pataka Kai on Holly St, Miranda St and St Jude St; and Shared Garden Space Avondale.
